General Meeting Updates:
Our General Meeting #4 will be on Wednesday, November 13th the location is TBD. We will be having a student panel, and this meeting is usually a favorite among AED members. You will be hearing from current health professional students about their journey, and you will be given the opportunity to ask them questions. Also shirts will be distributed after the meeting. Please make sure you attend the meeting to pick up your shirts!
Our next fundraiser for the year is on October 30th (TOMORROW) from 4-7PM at Fat Straws Richardson (1251 W. Campbell Rd. Richardson, TX). Our fundraising coordinator, Pushti Mehta, will be there so you can either bring the receipt to her or email: firstname.lastname@example.org with a picture of your receipt. Be sure to write your full name and net ID on the receipt. Please note that you must make a $5 purchase for this to count as a fundraising credit. Additionally if you dress up in Halloween attire, you will also receive a social credit! Be sure to show the attached flier at checkout so AED can receive 15%.
The Texas Emergency Medicine Research Associate Program (TEMRAP) is an excellent opportunity for students to get involved in clinical research at one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the United States. Through the program, you will get to interact with a variety of patients and healthcare providers. The program requires a commitment of ~3 hours each week with planned continuation of being in the program for at least two semesters to gain the full research experience. If interested, please visit https://www.utdallas.edu/pre-health/temrap to learn more about the program and to apply before the Nov. 15th deadline!
