Dean
Terry is Assistant Professor of Aesthetic Studies at
the University of Texas at Dallas and
is the Director of the Online
Worlds Lab and The Emerging
Media initiative. His
area of interest is in interactive digital media, media
studies, and film. His background is in experimental video,
audio, philosophy, and the visual arts. Mr
Terry teaches interactive digital arts at in the School
of Arts & Humanities and Institute
for Interactive Arts and Engineering. Professor Terry's
creative projects include experimental digital films,
documentaries, writing, and internet works. His most
recent film is a documentary entitled Subdivided:
Isolation and Community in America and he is currently
working on a project about virtual worlds. His commentary
appears on current events appears regularly in various online
and print publications.

Dean
Terry is an entrepreneur and award winning director, producer,
and writer of ground breaking Internet projects. His work
has influenced the nature and development of online entertainment
and interaction. In the 1990's he was co-founder and principal
of PixelWave, a leading interactive entertainment design
firm in Los Angeles. PixelWave developed major projects for
Paramount and Warner Brothers, and Sony. The company also
produced numerous interactive
projects for companies such as Cisco Systems, Yahoo, and
Sprint. In 1999 Mr. Terry guided the merger of PixelWave
with AtomFilms
(now part of Viacom) the leading online film site. He served
as Senior Vice President
of Creative Development and directed and produced numerous
online entertainment projects. While at Atom, Mr.
Terry directed the design of the multiple award winning Atomfilms.com
website. He also produced groundbreaking mobile
entertainment projects with Microsoft and Nokia. His animated
mobile project 'MallCop' won the 'Best of Show' award at
Internet World. Dean Terry is currently developing independent
film, video, and interactive projects and is Assistant Professor
of Aesthetic
Studies at the University
of Texas at Dallas.
