Welcome to the Quantum Optics Lab @ UT Dallas

And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light (Genesis 1:3)

This is the Quantum Optics lab at the Department of Physics, the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). In this website, you will explore our interesting and fundamental research in atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics, as well as applied optical microscopies. At lab, we cool atoms to a temperature of below 0.0001 Kelvin using lasers and magnetic fields (without using a refrigerator at all!), and count single photons.

Breaking the boundary between fundamental physics and applied engineering, we work as both scientists and engineers --- This is the way we are working as modern researchers. We are aiming at discovering and solving new scientifical and engineering problems by making use of and developing advanced technologies.
