ECSS 2.203

Instructor: Emily Fox <emily.fox@utdallas.edu>

Welcome!

Welcome everybody to CS 6363—Design and Analysis of Computer Algorithms. I'm your instructor, Kyle Fox. Please refer to me using he/him, and feel free to let me know if you want me to refer to you any way not already made clear by eLearning or MS Teams. I highly recommend you take a look around the course website when you have a chance. It has all there is to know about course policies along with a copy of all my lecture notes, the homework assignments, and more.

We'll be doing in-person classes. I cannot require you to be vaccinated or wear a mask in order to attend. However, I highly recommend, and would personally appreciate, if each of you who is able to gets a full COVID-19 vaccination and/or appropriate boosters, wears a mask to class, and spreads out as much as the seating will allow you to. I don't want any of you getting sick. Also, I have two young children in school and a spouse who has to attend work in person. We would most likely be fine if we were to get sick, but we would also need to self-isolate to prevent further spread of the disease. And that means no in-person classes for some number of weeks. So please do your part for everyone's sakes.

I am going to be very relaxed when it comes to in-person attendance, and I will upload a high quality recording of each lecture in case you'd like to watch it later online. If you feel you cannot attend a lecture in-person for any reason, you do not need to ask my permission or offer an explanation.

Thank you for reading all that! I really am looking forward to a great semester with you all.
