John McCracken is Clinical Professor of Healthcare Management at The
University of Texas at Dallas Jindal School of Management and Adjunct
Professor of Family and Community Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical
Center. He is the founding
director of the Alliance
for Physician Leadership, an educational partnership between the
Jindal School of Management and UT Southwestern. The Alliance offers a
nationally recognized Healthcare Management Executive MBA for physicians and
provides customized programs on leadership, strategy and operational
improvement for hospital and physician organizations.
John formerly served on the faculty of the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, as a Wall St. investment banker and as a managing partner of a firm specializing in the turnaround management of distressed healthcare organizations.
John's healthcare experience includes service on the boards of a large hospital, physician group practice and state-wide provider network. For over a decade he has provided coaching and mediation services for physicians and presently serves as a coaching consultant to the Texas Medical Board.
John holds a BA in economics from Southern Methodist University, an MSc in economics from the London School of Economics and a PhD in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a recipient of the Jindal School of Management's Distinguished Teaching Award and the Executive MBA program's Most Outstanding Professor Award. The Jindal School of Management has endowed the John F. McCracken Chair in Healthcare Management in his honor.
