Research Openings

The research in the group requires strong background in power systems, optimization, mathematics, statistics, and computational modeling. If you are interested in joining our group and carry out research in renewable energy and design optimization, please send your Cover Letter, CV, and two representative publications to Dr. Jie Zhang at jiezhang@utdallas.edu for considerations.

  • 01/2023: Multiple Ph.D. positions are available in the DOES Lab starting from Fall 2023. Preferred Qualifications: (1) B.S. or M.S. in electrical engineering, industrial engineering, statistics, mechanical engineering, or nuclear engineering; (2) background in mathematical optimization methods or machine learning; (3) knowledge in power & energy systems, renewable integration, nuclear energy, or complex networks; and (4) good programming skills and familiar with one or more of the following tools: R, Python, Modelica, MATLAB/Simulink, PSS@E, OpenDSS, GridLab-D, CPLEX, GAMS, PYOMO.

  • 01/2023: Two Postdoc positions are available to work on projects funded by the Department of Energy. Experience with one or several of the following would be beneficial: network resilience, nuclear energy, machine learning, probabilistic forecasting, statistics, grid integration of renewable energy, integrated energy systems.
