Design Improvements for the Zenith 601 HDS:
Canopy Latches and Locks
Canopy Latches and Locks
A small pin pushes the latch hook inside and thus releases the
canopy. On the left hand side, as shown, a small lock is used to block the
unlatching mechanism.
The small pin is attached to the latch hook by an AN3 bolt. The
retraction spring on the aft side of the latch is hooked into
the cotter pin hole of the AN3 bolt.
Positive latching is assured by a locking mechanism where the pin
with black handle
is pushed in the latch hook. When the locking pin is engaged,
the black handle covers up the red stripe. Thus, if the red stripe is
seen, it warns that the locking pin is not engaged.
