TARGET AUDIENCES:
- This is a required course for all degree-seeking undergraduate
students in Computer Science.
- An understanding of the material in this course
is recommended for all students who intend to take CS 4340.
- Others who can benefit from this course include employees
of local
high-technology companies who need an introduction to computer
architecture.
CONCEPTS/TOOLS TO BE ACQUIRED IN THIS COURSE:
- Acquire the ability to use a hierarchical approach
to understand a complex system
- Become sufficiently well acquainted
with the principles of computer architecture
to be able to make intelligent use of
computers for designing and simulating
engineering systems, components, and devices
- Acquire a basic knowledge of assembler language ---
a tool for accomplishing the first two goals
