Abstract: In this informal talk, Dr. Zalila-Wenkstern will share lessons (learned the hard way) about embarking on a life-long relationship with Computer Science. She will discuss
the common mistakes students make while pursuing an education at the undergraduate, Master's and Ph.D. levels and who later select a career in academia. She will share
a Professor's typical perspective on students and give you hints on how to avoid pitfalls and traps in academia.
This talk is rated SG-30 : some material may be inappropriate for faculty over 30. Student guidance advised.

"The workshop's intended outcomes are the support and further development of a new generation of academic women and men prepared and energized to be leaders, mentors and coaches, and to contribute to transforming the climate to enable success for those in science and engineering independent of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, country of origin, and other dimensions of diversity".
Real-Time Multi-Objective Optimization of Autonomous Multi-Agent Controllers for Adaptive Traffic Management

School of Engineering and Computer Science
"The first
award goes to a faculty member who is known for her
engaging teaching style and ability to provide students with thorough
content.
Her class structure encourages participation and gives clear
expectations for deliverables that are critical in the work environment. She is
recognized as a superb mentor and supervisor who is attentive to the details of her
students' research. She is also the founding director of our executive
MS in Software Engineering program which has thrived under her leadership.
