EE/TE 4385 - DSP-Based Design Project I - Lectures and Lab Schedule

Prof. Murat Torlak, Fall 2006 Semester

The optional textbooks are

The Johnson and Sethares text reflects the recent shift in telecommunications technology from hardware to software by focusing on the design of a digital software-defined radio. Telecommunications Breakdown explains a complete digital radio that includes each part of a typical digital communication system.

You will need a knowledge of Labview. The following tutorial is useful for a good start

You need various TMS320C6000 manuals, which are only available electronically:

According to DSPguru Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is a complex subject! Thus, we need additional resources to supplement the course material presented in the class. Most of this list is compiled from Brian Evans's Real-Time DSP class at UT Austin.

Additional Resources and References

You can get a lot of help from the following book on our lab experiments and QAM implementation

Many of the multimedia demonstrations given in lecture will be taken from the CD ROM that comes with the book.

The content of the four TMS320C6000 manuals used in the laboratory is distilled into the following tutorial book:
