Chisel

Chisel kits are available in the woodworking room.

There are also clamps for holding down your wooden piece to the table.

There is also a vice attached to the table. Make sure vice is tight and your wooden piece is firmly attached.

This is a YouTube video showing some ways to use a chisel:

  • Splitting = cut along the wood fibers
  • Chopping = cut across the wood fibers
  • Slicing = edge cut along the fibers at the edge of a piece
  • Pairing = edge cut across the fibers at the edge of a piece
  • Lots of combinations of these can be used to make our parts
    • forward to 7 minutes to make a rounded end
    • forward to 8 minutes to make a rounded cut in wood
    • forward to 9 minutes to flatten a surface
    • forward to 9:30 minutes to chip a channel
    • forward to 11 minutes to rond corners

This is another YouTube video on the safety while handling a chisel.
