Ongoing studies
Children's vowel database
Who are we recruiting?
We are developing a database of speech recordings from children between the ages of 5 to 18 years. We are recruiting 5-yr-old boys and girls who are reading well, girls between 12 and 17 years of age, and 14 and 16-yr-old boys. Participants must be native English speakers from the North Texas region. The recordings are used to study speech development and perception.
What does the participant do in the study?
Participants visit the Speech Perception Lab to make a set of recordings. The task is easy and involves repeating rhyming sentences. Sessions last from 60-90 minutes and participants are compensated.

Cochlear implants
Who are we recruiting?
We are recruiting cochlear implant users to participate in listening experiments.
What does the participant do in the study?
The participant attends to listening tests and is asked to perform psychoacoustic tasks such as typing the words they hear. The listening tasks typically last from 1 to 3 hours with breaks in-between. The listeners will be compensated for their participation.
